DR. EDWARD J BRAYNON, JR.

30TH GRAND BASILEUS

Dr. Edward J. Braynon, Jr., a native of Miami, FL, was born on January 15, 1928, and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1944. Brother Braynon continued his educational pursuits by enrolling at Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee, from 1944–1946, where he joined the Eta Psi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He subsequently transferred to Howard University in Washington, D.C., where he completed his undergraduate studies and entered Howard’s School of Dentistry, earning a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1954. Brother Braynon served his country admirably and honorably as a commissioned dental officer in the U.S. Air Force, first as a lieutenant and then captain from 1954 to 1956

His fraternal history is impeccable, characterized by out-standing service rendered. From 1958 to 1963, he served as the Basileus of the Sigma Alpha chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He has also served the 7th District and the International Organization in various leadership capacities:

First Vice District Representative, District Representative, First Vice Grand Basileus (1973–1976), and the 30th Grand Basileus (1976–1978).
